Why Visceral Fat Is Bad for Your Health

Most people worry about the fat they can see — the stuff they can pinch. That’s not the real threat. The dangerous fat is the visceral fat hidden deep inside your abdomen, wrapped around your organs. Here’s why it’s a problem:

1. It squeezes your organs. This fat crowds your liver, pancreas, and intestines, making it harder for your body to control blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol.

2. It creates constant inflammation.Visceral fat releases chemicals that keep your body in “stress mode,” increasing your risk for heart disease, diabetes, and low energy.

3. It messes with your hormones. It makes you hungrier, slows your metabolism, and encourages your body to store even more fat.

4. It hides. You can look “normal” on the outside and still have high visceral fat on the inside.

The good news:Visceral fat is usually the first fat your body burns when you improve your diet, get consistent with cardio, lift weights, sleep better, and cut back on alcohol.
