Measurement Tape –
Body measurements can help us measure fat loss and muscle gain in ways that the scale cannot. I love the digital version Health o meter Digital Measuring Tape. Along with getting your weigh-in every morning, get your measurement, 2 inches below your belly button measurements as well.
We often lose our minds with weight increases alone as our only metric. We don't realize that slight or stagnant weigh-in can be due to a little gut content, water, muscle gain and/or glycogen increase. The waist is where physics places fat for both men and women, so if the waist is getting smaller, you are losing belly fat no matter the weight. So make sure to jot down this Waist measurement! At last, we need to get your body fat in the next lecture so acquire the following measurements too.
For Women: (Remember, measure everything to the nearest 0.1 cm):
Waist (At the narrowest)
Hip (At Widest)
Neck (At Narrowest)
For Men:
Waist (At Navel)
Neck (At Narrowest)
Keeping track of your measurements involves discipline and a strong desire for precision. Realistically, we are busy beings so I'll outline the bare minimum 1st. Check your waist around your belly button area before you weigh yourself EVERY DAY.
