POST LIFE OF STEROIDS
The Story That Changes It All.
So we covered that there is some funky stuff and lying in the fitness and bodybuilding world. Don’t get discouraged, I’m about to disclose my story. Bodybuilding seems healthy right? Often, it’s the first justification we tell ourselves to start on this journey to shredded abs or bulky aesthetic muscles. But those glamourous bodies come at a price, and a fascinating process that takes years. The truth about bodybuilding was made clear in my 2016 competition. While pumping up backstage this short muscular guy approached me making a Spanish conversation telling me he didn’t need to pump up his muscles.. Usually one needs to do several exercises to push blood into the muscle (upper body only) and make them bigger with blood before hitting the stage. Amador, the short bodybuilder told me he did a carb load comprised of tacos, burgers, muffins and so on.
Perplexed, I continued to listen. He explained that his muscles were already full because of all the glycogen being stored from all those foods. He also zipped red wine and explained how he was dehydrating himself further. He was also using the diuretic known as Lasix were water is excreted to the maximum. Lasix is dangerous because it flushes out all water, overriding homeostasis and expelling salt and potassium which potentially can leave all your organs dry and your heartbeat can stop. Google Andreas Munzer and Momo Benaziza and you’ll see the end game of the abuse of this substance. He armed me with all this knowledge, but I did research back home and realized that I could very well die if I wasn’t careful. This was no longer healthy or natural pursuit, but a weird science experiment on one’s body. Competing is fun and you can impress your friends, family and social media but you must be aware of this side if you dream of being a top bodybuilder. I hope you consider that there is a downside to these big impressive bodies. Here I only named one component of many, but let me show you how to do it the natural way.
THE RISK OF ENHANCEMENT
Using steroids for recreational purposes can have serious health risks and legal consequences. Here are 15 reasons why you should not use steroids recreationally:
Health Risks: Steroid use can lead to a range of health problems, including heart disease, liver damage, kidney issues, and high blood pressure.
Hormonal Imbalance: Steroids can disrupt the natural balance of hormones in your body, leading to a host of physical and psychological issues.
Addiction: Steroid use can become addictive, leading to a cycle of dependence and increasing doses.
Mood Swings: Steroids can cause mood swings, aggression, and irritability, often referred to as "roid rage."
Stunted Growth: Steroid use in adolescents can lead to premature closure of growth plates, resulting in shorter stature.
Acne and Skin Problems: Steroid use can cause severe acne and other skin problems.
Hair Loss: It can accelerate hair loss and male pattern baldness.
Infertility: Steroid use can lead to decreased sperm count and infertility in men.
Virilization: In women, steroids can cause masculinizing effects like facial hair growth and deepening of the voice.
Cardiovascular Issues: Steroids can increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
Liver Damage: Oral steroids can damage the liver, leading to conditions like jaundice and liver tumors.
Kidney Damage: Steroids can harm the kidneys and lead to kidney disease.
Legal Consequences: Possession and distribution of steroids without a prescription are illegal in many countries, leading to potential legal trouble.
Financial Cost: Maintaining a steroid habit can be expensive, and the money spent on steroids could be put to better use.
Social Isolation: Steroid use can strain relationships and lead to social isolation due to changes in behavior and appearance.
It's essential to consult with a healthcare professional if you have questions about steroid use, as they can provide guidance on the potential risks and benefits, especially in medical contexts where steroids are prescribed for specific health conditions. However, recreational use of steroids is strongly discouraged due to the numerous risks involved.
